AutoCAD MAP3D and Microsoft SQL Server: 1. Download MS SQL server

AutoCAD MAP 3D, the GIS application, now supports not only ORACLE server, but Microsoft SQL Server as well. This is great steps for Autodesk and for us, users, either. Users now can work with enterprise industry models on SQL Server, with more powerful and enhanced FDO provider, as they could use it with Oracle systems before. Let's take a few steps forward.

So question is: How to download installation file for Microsoft SQL Server?

NOTE: It is important to download and install Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2, because AutoCAD MAP3D will not work with it. There is only one compatible version of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2.
 

Guide how to download Microsot SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1:

1. Click on this link: LINK, Click "Continue"...
   
   
2. If you want to give away your e-mail address to Microsoft , you should register. Otherwise, as me :), click on "No, I do not want to register. Take me to the download." and than another "Continue"-button.
   
   
3. Depending on your operation system and local settings (in your head and tongue, just kidding) choose language, and type of your system (32 or 64 bit). A little hint: If you have problem to decide, click keyboard shortcut, Win+Pause(Break), and read carefully :) Hopefully, You will get it.
   
   
4. Final step is download. Next post is gonna be about installing Microsoft SQL Server 2012 R2 SP1

Guide how to download Microsoft SQL server 2012:

1. Insert into your favorite web browser URL: http://www.microsoft.com/sqlserver/
2. In Microsoft page, click on "Edition" tab and then on "Express Edition", just because we want to free version of Microsoft SQL server. You can choose other three editions for fun (if you can spent money for fun): 1.) Standard edition, which is basic, 2.) Business intelligence, which is for Premium Self-Service and Corporate Business Intelligence, and 3.) Enterprise edition, which is for Mission Critical & Applications Data Warehousing.
   
   
3. Another click... Oooh, I forgot mention, where to click. Isn't it obvious? Click on Download SQL Server 2012 Express.
   
   
4. Choose, ehm one, two, three, four... OK! So choose fourth option to download. More specifically this one: SQL Server Express with Advanced Services (contains the database engine, Express Tools, Reporting Services, and Full Text Search).
   
   
5. Depending on your operation system and local settings (in your head and tongue, just kidding) choose language, and type of your system (32 or 64 bit). A little hint: If you have problem to decide, click keyboard shortcut, Win+Pause(Break), and read carefully :) Hopefully, You will get it.
   
   
6. This step is veeeery, very important either. Choose where it should be saved. :)
   
   
7. And now, you should just wait for(-eeeeeeeeeever) - depends on your internet connection :), I waited only 18 minutes.
